Tuesday 6 September 2011

Full details of my first fundraising challenge!

Zumba Week
So, my Zumba instructor (Corena Eastwood) is completely mad - every week she does this incredible schedule of Zumba classes and also 2 and a half hours of Line Dancing (LD is on a Tuesday) - quite frankly, she's amazing, but nuts!

For some reason, I've decided to be just as nuts as her for a week (well almost, I'm not doing the line dancing, not unless somebody wants to sponsor me a lot of money to??).

So, what this actually means is, on the week starting the 17th October 2011, I shall be doing the following:-

Monday
5.45pm - Zumba for the Circuit (Curves in Newquay) - 30 minutes
Tuesday
9.15am - Zumba at Crantock - 1 hour
11.30am - Zumba for the Circuit (Curves in Newquay) - 30 minutes
6.00pm - Zumba at Crantock - 1 hour
Wednesday
8.15am - Zumba for the Circuit (Curves in Newquay) - 30 minutes
Thursday
6.00pm - Zumba at Crantock - 1 hour
7.15pm -Zumba at Crantock - 1 hour
Friday
5.45pm - Zumba for the Circuit (Curves in Newquay) - 30 minutes

That totals 8 classes and 6 hours of Zumba in one week.

I can't promise that by Friday I'll still be doing the jumping version of the moves but I can promise that I'll be trying my absolute best!

Why is this such a challenge?
12 weeks ago I struggled to do 30 minutes  of Zumba for the Circuit and certainly wouldn't have managed to do an hour at Crantock.  Since joining Curves on 6th June, attending 5 times a week and gradually starting to go to Curves at Crantock my fitness levels have increased and I have lost a stone in weight (and my trousers keep falling down!).
I am now able to do a two hour Zumba session (Thursday nights) but it's hard work!

So, what can you do to help?
Well, obviously you can sponsor me! You could sponsor my per class, per hour or just a fixed amount.  If you are local, you can come along to some of the classes and give me some support and join in for some fun!
Plus, you can spread the word about this challenge and my fundraising pages in general - that's this blog as well as my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/ruthtrekperu

Oh...and my Just Giving page is now live too! http://www.justgiving.com/ruth-rushton

It's definitely happening!!

Today I had all the confirmation emails through for the trek - it's definitely happening!

So the details are, I leave on 12th October 2012 for ten days.

I will be trekking for up to 8 hours a day with altitudes up to 14,300ft.

I need to raise a MINIMUM of £2675 but obviously, the more I raise, the more Cornwall Hospice Care receive.

I have created a Facebook page which will probably be updated more often than the blog (just because it's quicker) so if you would like to Like it the link is here - Ruth's Trek to Peru

I've had a really good reponse so far, I just hope I can keep it going!
