It's definitely happening!!

Today I had all the confirmation emails through for the trek - it's definitely happening!

So the details are, I leave on 12th October 2012 for ten days.

I will be trekking for up to 8 hours a day with altitudes up to 14,300ft.

I need to raise a MINIMUM of £2675 but obviously, the more I raise, the more Cornwall Hospice Care receive.

I have created a Facebook page which will probably be updated more often than the blog (just because it's quicker) so if you would like to Like it the link is here - Ruth's Trek to Peru

I've had a really good reponse so far, I just hope I can keep it going!

Thanks for reading,

The first post...

Hello

So this is my first post on my blog - Trek Peru for Cornwall Hospice Care.

My aim is to raise money in aid of Cornwall Hospice Care, that is the charity that runs Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St. Austell and St. Julias in Hayle as well as providing support in other areas.

This is what Cornwall Hospice Care say about themselves:-

"Cornwall Hospice Care is an independent Cornish Charity, uniquely placed within the community and committed to the delivery of excellence in Specialist Palliative Care across Cornwall

Our service is free of charge to the patient. However, our charity status means that we rely heavily on financial and voluntary support from the general public by way of charitable donations, legacies, shops income, fundraising events and various other activities.

Many individuals who are admitted to the hospice return home to carry on living their lives independently with continued support from us in partnership with other agencies."

As a resident of Cornwall, there is a possibility that I may need to use the help of Cornwall Hospice Care in my lifetime, I have decided to raise money for them.  If I don't use their services, then someone else will benefit from my fundraising.
So, I am embarking on raising money by holding various fundraising events over the next year with the ultimate challenge being a trek in Peru.
I am a shy person and this will be a huge challenge for me - fingers crossed I can do it justice.
